Usyk: Tyson Fury Has The Right Mentality, Boxing Skills To Beat Joshua…

During a recent interview, Oleksandr Usyk explained that Tyson Fury has the right attributes to defeat his British rival, former two-time world champion Anthony Joshua.

Last September, Usyk outboxed Joshua over twelve rounds to capture the IBF, WBO, WBA, IBO heavyweight titles.

There is going to be a rematch in the coming months. The second encounter was initially targeted to take place in July, but now it might land on a date in August.

Fury retained his WBC title back in April with a sixth round knockout of Dillian Whyte.

Afterwards, Fury declared that he was planning to retire from the sport.

However, Fury has not vacated the WBC title and most observers are expecting him to face the winner of the Usyk-Joshua rematch.

Win or lose against Usyk, Joshua would still make for a big money opponent for Fury – especially if the event is staged in a UK stadium.

Usyk has a lot of respect for Fury’s abilities in the ring and believes he’s more than capable of toppling a fighter like Joshua.

“I should say that Tyson Fury is an unpredictable boxer. He has the right mentality and the boxing skills required [to beat Joshua]. But it is boxing so I can’t predict what would happen and how such a fight would end. But we will have to wait and see and I would be sure to watch,” Usyk said to The Sun.

Joshua is now being trained by veteran coach Robert Garcia, who believes the Olympic gold medal winner will get revenge on Usyk.

“Still now, a year ago, two years ago, if you asked me, ‘Who is the most talented heavyweight?’ I’ve always said Anthony Joshua. Talent-wise, [Tyson] Fury is a different beast, a different monster. Usyk is very technical and difficult because he’s smaller and fast,” Garcia told Little Giant Boxing.

“[Deontay] Wilder, tremendous power. Everybody has their own unique qualities. But overall, if you’re talking about talent, I pick Anthony Joshua. And another thing Anthony Joshua has is insane power. Oh my gosh, he’s got great power. More than anybody else I think.”
